Who we are

Our website address is: https://newtricksplay.org. New Tricks is operated in partnership with EBED.

Contact forms

When you send us a message through our contact form, we collect the details you enter (such as your name, email address, and message) so that we can respond to your enquiry. We do not use this information for marketing purposes, and we do not share it with third parties.

Newsletter

If you sign up to New Tricks news, we store your email address so that we can send you our newsletter. We use it only for that purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email, and your address will then be removed from our mailing list.

User accounts

You can create an account on this site to solve puzzles, gain credit, and appear on the leaderboard. When you register, we store the personal information you provide in your user profile (such as your username and email address). Your username and puzzle scores may be visible to other visitors on the leaderboard. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Cookies

When you first visit the site, a cookie banner (provided by CookieYes) asks for your consent before any non-essential cookies are set. Your choice is stored in a cookie so we do not ask you on every visit. Essential cookies, such as the login cookies described below, do not require consent. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link on the site.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are popular and how people move through the puzzles and lessons. These services set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This data is processed by Google. You can read Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared with the following service providers only for the purposes described in this policy: Google (analytics) and CookieYes (cookie consent management). If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile for as long as the account exists. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To make a request, contact us through the contact form.
